A mushroom is headful: visible, tangible, divisible. But the organism is headless, underground, connecting everything. A head is temporary. The network is permanent.

The heads have always known this.

Six months ago we wrote about the fungal web β€” mycelial social media, decentralized, git-native, no landlord. It was aspirational. A manifesto with no implementation.

We're at basecamp now.

Fungal is real. A Go binary that builds static sites from pods β€” directories with a pod.toml, a doc.md, and whatever else that content needs. Git-native. Forever-cached. Cloudflare-deployable. Five sites running on it today.

And now we're thinking about what grows underneath.

Your site is the mushroom β€” the head. Your data is the mycelium β€” headless, persistent, yours. Every edit is a commit in a repo you own. Every version preserved. The drafts you abandoned, the ideas that resurfaced months later, the patterns in your own work you've never seen β€” accumulating beneath the surface. Not on a platform. Not in someone else's database.

MY-celia.

Stay headful. Stay ahead.
