🛁 The Hag.

Jack says he didn't see anything in room 237. This is inconsistent with the scene we watch, where he sees the old hag.

But is it possible that Danny is the one who sees the hag? That Jack is playing Danny in that scene?

Danny emerges with his sweater torn, strangled. This is never explained. The only explanation offered—he did it to himself—is implausible. Did Jack abuse Danny? We're led to believe this, but there is no proof.

We see Danny approach the room: "Mom, are you in there?" Then we see Jack's nightmare—that he murdered Wendy and Danny. Then Danny emerges, injured.

Was Jack's nightmare a sadistic alibi? Did the hag injure Danny? But the hag cannot be real, because that's a supernatural entity.

It's Danny's story, that he was attacked by the hag. Wendy would have to be out of her fucking mind to believe it.
