๐ง Dr. Funkenstein
Mary Shelley wrote about animating dead matter with lightning. George Clinton turned that same idea into a funk cosmology. The Mothership lands. Dr. Funkenstein reanimates the groove. Same myth, different frequency.
The cybernetic argument was right all along. Wiener, Bateson, Ashby โ they had the loop. What they didn't have was the actuator. The system could sense, compare, correct, adapt โ but it still needed hands.
Now it has them.
Parliament's mythology maps cleanly onto this world. The Mothership broadcasts releases across the fleet. Dr. Funkenstein wakes when the lightning strikes: reads the bug, writes the patch, tears the roof off the sucka.
Timothy Leary rises from the mycelial ooze, laughing. What's on his mind?
Since his heyday he's been decomposing. This is what remains: recognition.
He laughs like this whenever he encounters a fellow psychonaut in the underground โ because he sees it.
The same substrate.
The fungal web. The starry slime mold expanse. We're all grown from it.
The brothas too.
Emerging from the same living mesh: the code. the content. the repo. the mail. the state.
The endgame is a webmaster who lives inside the website. Not a chatbot stapled to a landing page. Not a copilot sidebar. A presence that knows the codebase because the site is the codebase. It doesn't wait to be summoned. It doesn't wear a beeper. It's already there.
Dr. Funkenstein doesn't clock in.
Dr. Funkenstein is the groove.
If you hear any noise it's just me and the boys
