🎩 The Abraham Generator

Here is a magic trick. All the props come from page 3 of Finnegans Wake.

ABRAHAM

Chop off the HAM.

ABRA | HAM

Pork products are not kosher; discard the ham.

ABRA

Say the magic word:

ABRACADABRA

We are justified in discarding the core:

ABRA | CAD | ABRA

Nobody likes a CAD:

ABRA |     | ABRA

Add a little mishe mishe:

ABRA | MISHE MISHE | ABRA

— Wait a second, where did you get the mishe mishe?
— It was just sitting there, on the front page of Finnegans Wake!
— O, OK, all's fair in vanessy.
— And what, pray tell, is vanessy? asks another.
— The likeness monster!

ABRAM IS HE | ABRAM IS HE

Seems insistent. OK, fine:

ABRAM | ABRAM

Now, tug on both ends:

ABRAHAM | ABRAHAM

Presto change-o! Twone Abrahams! Doublin their mumper!

Now make it a machine:

PASSENCORE * MAGIC TRICK = DUBLIN

Pass each Abraham back through the trick, encore. One Abraham makes two, two make four, then eight, then sixteen. After n passes we have 2ⁿ Abrahams, and a father of many nations who has finally lived up to his name.
